But one team spoiled all of that. A 4-2 Yankkes series win finalizes another fantastic October November. Let’s just be honest here, generally people either love or hate the Yankees. There is no middle ground there. You are a fan (probably because it’s cool) or you absolutely can not stand them (probably because it’s equally as cool).
Admit this though, things are always more exciting when the Yankees are at or near the top. Why? Because even though your favorite team likely missed the postseason as usual (Hello Baltimore) it’s still fun to root against a team you can’t stand. Unless that team happens to win it all, in which case every fair-weather fan that you never knew bled pinstripes decides to come out and annoy you. Really, look at your facebook right now and count the number of odd “We’re Champs” posts that have gone up in the last 24 hours. Still, even this can be fun because then you get to debate with them about why it’s not a good idea to brag about having the most wins in the decade and only bring home 2 (two!!) titles home in 10 years. That’s eight years of ‘fail’ my good friends.
So come on Yankee fans, accept your win with style and grace. It was a good series and would have been better if a few Phillies had shown up prior to Game 6 (cough *Ryan Howard* cough). Please don’t act like you are entitled to be champions as you did in the early parts of the decade, though. Remember what it felt like to have Red Sox fans gloat after beating you continuously en route to two titles? Fans across the nation have felt that way 26 times. Let’s not make it 27. Of course, I guess they don’t call them the Evil Empire for nothing – let the gloating begin.
