Sometimes, it’s really difficult to wrap the mind around the legal system.
Exhibit A comes from this report, in which a man who attempted to rob a place back in 2007 has been given the “ok” to go ahead and sue the people who layed a pretty mean smackdown on him for his (failed) attempt. Evidently, Scott T. Zielinski feels that those do-gooders that stopped his unarmed robbery attempt went a little too far (well, they did shoot him twice) and is seeking $125,000 for…..well, I’m not sure really. He’s already in prison and must post a $10,000 bond in order to cover costs for attorneys of the employees in case he loses, which I’m not particularly sure why he wouldn’t.
Not to make light of an attempted robbery and a man getting shot and beaten….but..... this all occurred at a place called “Nick’s Party Shop”.
(Cue the noisemakers and streamers!!!!)
I’m not sure what the motive was behind this decision. Was he going for the element of surprise? Well, congrats - mission accomplished. A bank, yeah. A drug sure, absolutely. But robbing a party shop? Maybe this place reels in the dough, I don’t know, but if I worked at a party shop I’d feel pretty confident about not getting robbed. Those Spongebob paper plates aren’t exactly flying off the shelves. Shoot, it’s a recession. People are too broke to party. But I digress....
That’s not even the most surprising part of the story. I’m looking at the fact that three employees as this place absolutely put the boots to this guy and someone felt so peeved about the whole thing that they fired shots at this sad man! Whaaaa? What kind of party store is this, anyway? The 'Nothin’ But A Gangsta Party' store? Are we sure he wasn’t shot by those little orange cap guns you get for a dollar at one of these places? Did a couple balloons pop and he just thought he was shot?
Still, the fact this man claims that he was excessively beaten has to fall on deaf ears. You robbed a place, sir. You took something that did not belong to you. I'm not sure there is any "excess" to the beating you recieved. Jimmy Hoppa does not advocate violence, but some people will not act in a civil manner once when you move to steal from them. From what I hear, there are two ways you can get dealt with on this manner. Unfortunately, you were so bad at robbery that you received both.
