The good folks over at IGN, aka “nerd paradise” (and I mean that in the most endearing way possible), have comprised the list of the top 100 NES games of all the times and are pretty much right on the money, as expected.
By the way, for all of you children born in the 90’s, NES stands for Nintendo Entertainment System and was the second major game system to really “pop off”. Atari really set things off in the late 70's
Not surprisingly, IGN also created a top 25 video game consoles list recently, as well. I had no idea 25 consoles existed but video game history goes way back apparently (as in 1973). The iconic original Nintendo ranked at number one, as it nears its 25 year anniversary.
Anyway, those of you old enough to recall gaming in an 8-bit world will appreciate this trip down memory lane.
Obviously, Super Mario Bros. 3 leads the pack with The Legend of Zelda and the first Super Mario Bros. falling behind at No. 2 and 3.
It’s the look at the other 97 games that makes this an interesting read and I’ll just say that once I saw Ice Hockey at No. 100, I knew I was hooked.
So if this sort of thing interests you, check out the list to see where other favorites like Duck Hunt, Tetris, 2 installments of Teenage Mutant Turtles and 6 (six!!) Mega Man titles fall in line.
